Liquid Latex Puppet Fabrication!

  • Arts Collaborative Medford 162 Mystic Ave Medford United States (map)

Hosted by Jason | $55/person

Intermediate | 17+

I help you create liquid latex puppets from wire skeleton, to fully fabricated puppet! First we'll create the puppet's armature skeleton by forming the base outline with aluminum wires, then once we have that in place, epoxy putty will be used to create a more sturdy foundation around the joins of the skeleton, so as to create more structure in the areas that won't be moving. We will then use craft foam, and shape it onto the armature, then shaving and adding it on until the desired shape is achieved. Once the foam is shaped up into a rough outline of the body, we will wrap it with gauze sports wrap all around, then begin applying liquid latex and toilet paper all around to create the details and texture of the finalized puppet. Once that is all finished, We can apply a layer of acrylic paint, then seal it all off with a final layer of liquid latex to seal in all the paint so it won't rub off.

Additional Requirements:
We will be working with liquid latex, so be very careful not to spill it on your clothes or tables as it has a tendency to seep into fabric before it dries. We will be working without gloves during fabrication, so be prepared to be exposed to weird textures if that's something you'd be put off by.
