Two Day Workshop
$90 (includes two sessions + materials)
Session 1 : Wednesday Jan 29, 5:30-8pm
Session 2 : Thursday Jan 30, 5:30-8pm
Over two 2.5 hour classes, students will learn how to wet felt their very own wearable mittens. Techniques in this course include wet felting over a resist, as well as a working knowledge of common wool fiber types, and wet felting with effects fibers such as silk, viscose and bamboo. Each class students will work on one mitten. In this workshop they will come to understand wet felting basics, from laying out the fiber, the process of creating three dimensional shapes for wool wearables, as well as the physical felting process. Wet felting is time consuming, tactile and very involved - so come prepared to rock and roll (literally). Elbow grease is required! Like all things that take effort, the payoff is very rewarding, and students will leave with a beautiful pair of mittens that will last forever.
Materials: all participants are encourged to bring a towel of their own. All other supplies are included.
Open to all skill levels.
